Our week in photos: 2 August 2015

Out and about

We didn’t get out to too much during the week, since most of our normal playgroups are shut for the summer. We did get to one last Mini Montessori session before it closes up for August. Gosh, I’m going to miss my coffee and custard creams. Since it was the final session of the term, there was a carnival theme and the teacher, who is from Trinidad, brought in loads of beautiful masks, hats and dresses for everyone to try on.

Then on Friday, we headed up to Scotland for a weekend with the in-laws. It was also Pumpkin’s uncle’s birthday. Unfortunately, I didn’t really get any photos, as I spent most of the weekend with an awful stomach bug.

The good news was I lost four pounds in two days. The bad news? Well, the way I lost it. I won’t go into detail…

Our week in photos

1. Spotty stickers on the feet (I think we’ve been watching too much Mr Tumble!
2. Stacking blocks.
3. Buckets make great hats.
4. Riding the scooter.
5. Carnival hats.
6. Hiding in her kitchen cupboard (see the fingers?).
7. The best pig-tails I’ve ever made – they lasted less than 30 seconds.
8. Riding the rocking tiger at Mini Montessori.
9. Football Pilates ball.

Fun at home

As you can see, time at home was spent playing with stickers, wearing buckets on our heads and building towers with Mega Bloks.

Pumpkin spent plenty of time playing in the corridors with the other kids though, and finally figured out how to get both feet on one of their scooters. It probably won’t be long now until she’s whizzing around like the rest of them. Our building basically has the world’s cutest motorcycle gang. Except, instead of motorcycles, its scooters. And they’re all under three feet tall.

Out of the blue, she figured out how to hide herself away in her play kitchen cupboard. I don’t know where she learned that from, but she’s really enjoying it – and I’m pretty sure she believes her little fingers are invisible.

She has also taken to sitting on her football like it’s a Pilates ball.

My favourite moment was…

Being the last week of the month, work was very busy. But there were a few times where I just said eff-it and sat on the floor, playing with my little girl.

Every time we spend time like that together, I’m completely amazed at how much she is learning and figuring out on her own and I love just watching her explore new things. I wish I could do that all day instead of working – but we do what we must…
