I take a lot of photos. A lot. But how many of them do I actually do anything with? I mean, I suppose a few go on my blog. Others on Facebook and Instagram to share with friends and family. But, for the most part, they just sit on my phone (although I do go back and look at them quite a bit).
That’s why I love the idea of photo calendars and gifts. They provide the opportunity to incorporate my most treasured photos in every-day objects – so I can enjoy the piccies all the time.
However, I’ve always been a little dubious about most photo products. My perception of them was mediocre quality and high prices. However, it turns out my perceptions are a bit out of date – probably going back to when personalised printing was a new thing a few years ago.
You can get a photo printed on anything – calendars, cards, mugs, puzzles and Christmas decorations
I recently got the opportunity to try the photo printing services from Snapfish and I was really impressed with the results. The ordering process was easy – I managed to do almost the entire order while cuddling a sickly baby – plus, the prices seemed reasonable, delivery took just a few days and the finished items look fab.

With Christmas and New Year coming up, the company is particularly keen to promote their calendars. They offer a wide range of options, from small desk calendars to large posters and they can include just one or two photos or several.
I opted for a desk calendar for Daddy-man’s desk at work and a kitchen calendar for our hallway at home. There are a number of templates available too, but since I didn’t have a lot of time to faff around choosing backgrounds, I opted for the one that included a different background for each month. Hearts for February, Christmas trees for December and so on.

The calendars arrived so quickly – I think I ordered on Sunday and they were through the letter box early the next week. The other items took a bit longer to arrive, but they were all here within a few days.
What’s more, the calendars look great and the picture quality is wonderful – even though I used the low-resolution versions from my phone.
Next up, I opted to get Christmas cards for Pumpkin’s grandparents. (Mum: pretend you haven’t read this bit).

There were loads of card templates to choose from – although most of them were designed for photos in landscape format. I eventually found a design that would work with the picture I wanted to use – Pumpkin’s first visit with Santa – and I think the final card is gorgeous.
You can include a personalised message on the inside of the card, as well as a small photo and message on the back. If you want, Snapfish will even post the card to the recipient for you, which is very convenient, especially if you’re pressed for time.
It was also nice to see that a portion of the card price went for a donation to Macmillan.
Finally, I had a bit of fun with some photo gifts. I made a mug for Daddy-man to take to work. It has his favourite picture of me and Pumpkin. I also made a Christmas ornament and mini jigsaw puzzle.

I absolutely love the mug, and the jigsaw puzzle is exactly what I expected it to be.
The ornament is also nice, but I was slightly disappointed with the picture quality. However, I think that’s actually down to the picture I chose, rather than the printing – especially considering how well the mug turned out. It does annoy me that the picture isn’t perfectly centred inside the snowflake shape, but it’s a lovely ornament and a great way to remember Pumpkin’s first Christmas. It’s now hanging happily on our Christmas tree – well out of her reach!
According to the Snapfish website, you have until December 17th to order personalised photo products in time for Christmas – so there’s still plenty of time if you’re looking for a last-minute gifts for someone special.
